It includes the world's longest linear accelerator (two miles) and six scientists have received the Nobel Prize for their work at SLAC. Scientists from around the globe use the world-class facilities at SLAC to perform cutting-edge research. SLAC facilities are used by universities, government laboratories and private industries. Although access to the campus is restricted to passersby, there is public access by way of scheduled monthly tours, school group tours and a public lecture series. There are also internships and fellowships available for students.
