I have just started as a blogger with Palo Alto Patch and plan to contribute regular reviews, stories and previews of upcoming events in the arts and entertainment. So here's a little about me and my recent background with blogging and the arts.
I started blogging in 2005 when Intervision.blogspot.com went live. Intervision, or "what is seen between", was about the changes that were happening in music and technology as the forces of good and evil duked it out over how the internet would play a role in the distribution of recorded music. I have also been an avid film buff all my life and was writing for Slashfilm.com, a film geek website, while writing for Intervision. So there is a lot of film review there as well.
As lead singer for local soul band, Cherry Pi, am am intimately connected to the Bay Area music scene, not only as an avid fan of many of our fabulous local bands, but as a performer and band manager who constantly works with club owners.
My most recent passion is latin ballroom dancing, which is becoming increasingly popular in Palo Alto and surrounding towns. It was my fascination with salsa dancing that brought me to my most recent job as entertainment coordinator for Club Illusions on California Ave in Palo Alto.
In addition to film, music and dancing, I plan to cover art, as I am a painter and we need to support local artists and artisans. I will also cover fashion, theatre, photography, books and whatever arts come our way from performance art to multimedia installations to tech art. If it involves creativity and imagination, I'll want to talk about it.
I also plan to cover the Stanford community as well as Mountain View. Both have many evening dance and music events on a nightly basis.
All of this should keep an already busy schedule even busier so I will need the help of my friends... big time. So keep letting me know where you will be performing and what you want to see and listen to. I also plan to address local issues that affect the arts. So, if there's something on your mind, let me know!

Cheryl
