Bio:

I moved back to Berkeley over a year ago from Los Angeles and, after nearly a decade of smog, I can truly say I appreciate the city much more this time around. I’m a multimedia producer who can chew gum and blog at the same time. I have an MFA in film from Cal Arts, and I’ve had films screened all around the world. In 2009, with a grant from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, I co-created a pop+tech radio segment that airs bi-weekly on Southern California Public Radio (or KPCC for short). My audio work has appeared on Off-Ramp, Pacific Drift, and NPR's Day- to-Day.

A piece I co-produced that won second place for “Best Feature Story” in the LA Press Club awards. I’ve made over 60 short videos for KPCC's Off-Ramp and I’ve blogged for NPR's Weekend Edition, the Huffington Post, and countless local outlets in LA and the Bay Area.

Religion: How religious would you say you are?

I’m one of those strange people who actually reads theology for fun. I especially admire Elaine Pagels, Paul Tillich, and Gershom Scholem. For me, the word God stands for all the mystery the world holds. And as such, I believe that God is unimaginable in every way.

Politics:

How would you describe your political beliefs?

I used to call myself a Democrat but I believe in practicality and common sense when it comes to politics and I don’t see a lot of that coming from either party.

Beliefs:

1. I believe in the restorative powers of Tilden Park. 2. I believe that Mark Twain was right: A man who carries a cat by the tail learns something he can learn in no other way.

Final thoughts:

For the last few years I’ve been doing what I call “journo-tainment”. A frightful word, I’m sure, to more serious journalists. But I do like a little fun with my news (when appropriate). So don’t be surprised to find a little personal perspective, a little irreverence, and a little playfulness thrown into the mix as together we explore this infinitely interesting city by the Bay.
