Save The Date: Palo Alto's Clay & Glass Fest Set For July

The prestigious and popular 22nd Annual Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival hosts a fabulous, free, fun-filled two-day celebration of clay and glass art on July 12-13, 2014, at the Palo Alto Art Center, 1313 Newell Road.

Featuring both fine and functional art, the Palo Alto Clay & Glass Festival is the largest show of its kind, with more than 150 juried artists displaying their work. 

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet the artists and learn about their art. They will enjoy a variety of engaging activities, including hands-on pottery-making and wheel-throwing demonstrations. 

The festival is hosted by the Association of Clay and Glass Artists of California (ACGA) and co-sponsored by the Palo Alto Art Center, Community Services Department, Division of Arts and Sciences, City of Palo Alto.   

Discover unique pieces of the finest quality glass and clay art that make a beautiful addition to any home or garden. Select from pretty pottery, whimsical garden totem poles, unique jewelry, or one-of-a-kind glass art and sculptures. 

“Our ACGA member artists are always excited to participate in this annual event,” said ACGA President Forrest Lesch-Middelton. “The Palo Alto Art Center is a beautiful environment for us to share our work with the community.” 

In addition to the artist booths, there will be live art demonstrations starting at 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. 

There will also be an interactive art project open to artists of all ages. “Clay for All,” a very popular hands-on art experience returning this year, is an exciting opportunity for Festival attendees to explore working with clay with the assistance of ACGA art experts.

“Clay for All” will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday. 

A variety of fresh food and drinks will be available for purchase from local vendors.

Oaxacan Kitchen will offer Mexican and BBQ lunches. The Ultimate Souvlaki is providing Greek cuisine, and Pop Nation will offer gourmet ice pops. 

ACGA is the nation’s largest non-profit membership organization dedicated to the advancement of ceramic and glass arts. Juried by their ACGA peers, the festival’s artists are widely acclaimed and many are internationally recognized.
