Skateboarder Struck by Car Sunday on Mayfield Identified

Drugs and alcohol not factors in accident, police say.

A skateboarder hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle Sunday on the Stanford University campus has been identified as Vincent Su, a California Highway Patrol officer said today.

Su, 19, was riding his skateboard in the 500 block of Mayfield Avenue at about 11:30 a.m. when he collided with a silver Toyota sedan with Ohio license plates, CHP spokesman Officer Art Montiel said.

The skateboarder was taken to Stanford Hospital with major injuries, but no update about his condition was available today, Montiel said.

No arrest was made, no citation issued and there was no indication that alcohol or drugs played a factor in the crash, Montiel said.

Details of the accident, including who may have been at fault, are still being investigated, he said.

The original news release listed Mayfield Avenue in Mountian View as the accident site.
