City Seeking Citizen Advisors for Wireless Infrastructure

Extending fiber ring is the focus, and candidate deadline is Nov. 27.

Palo Alto's city manager is inviting individuals with expertise in "fiber-to-the-premise" or wireless technologies to apply for the city's citizen advisory committee.

The committee will provide objective and judicious advice -- from residents' perspectives -- to the City Council, and will be structured so individuals' opinions are shared, issues studied, and recommendations shaped in a focused, small-group structure.

The Palo Alto City Council formed the “Technology and the Connected City Committee” in 2013 to focus on exploring the extension of an existing 41-mile fiber ring to include homes and to evaluate beneficial wireless options for the city.
